Teas to help boost your immunity + a Bigelow Benefits Stay Well tea review

This is one of the scariest years of the flu. Every day, there is something in the news about the havoc the terrible illness is causing. I had some sort of sickness at the end of December that I caught on an airplane, and realized I needed to pay more attention to my immunity. While the standbys like vitamins and citrus fruits are great for that, you can get an immunity boost through a variety of teas, whether you’re looking to prevent illness or are dealing with an autoimmune condition.

While the flu seems to be slowing down (thankfully), germs are still all around us in public places and while traveling, so keeping your immune system up is always a good idea.

My go-to immunity-boosting tea is Bigelow Benefits “Stay Well” lemon echinacea & herbal tea. This tea has a nice, mild floral flavor with a citrus kick, and is great on its own or with a little honey if you’re feeling under the weather already. Echinacea increases white blood cells, which can have an impact on boosting your immunity and fighting illness, so this tea is good to drink as a preventative, or during an illness.

Packed full of antioxidants, a good, loose-leaf green tea is super for boosting your immunity. According to Livestrong, it helps by “strengthening immune agents, protecting against oxidative stress that can damage cells and preventing autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, green tea is thought to be highly beneficial for the human body.”

Chamomile is another tea that can help keep you healthy. Not only does this flower have very relaxing properties (I often have a cup before bed to help wind down), but it also boosts immunity. Other tisanes included in Livestrong’s list are picorhiza, ginseng and dandelion teas, all boasting benefits to aid in avoiding illness.

One more tea I wanted to mention here is chaga, or mushroom herbal tea. I reviewed some chaga a while back, and it has very high immune boosting properties, with a light, earthy almost sweet taste.

If you have any other immunity-boosting teas to add to my list, let me know in the comments below! Stay healthy, friends.

  1. These are great teas you mentioned here for boosting the immune system! I am definitely a fan of teas when it comes to cold and flu.
I have various herbal teas at home and when needed, I am combining them into a tea mix depending on what my needs are. To the immune boosting teas you mentioned, I would add ginger, hibiscus, lavender, rooibos.
