I’ve had a lot of chai teas, but never one like this before. I enjoy the taste of lemongrass in tea blends, so when I saw Adagio’s Thai Chai had that as an ingredient, I used my rep voucher to try it. I was not disappointed.
I usually like most teas, but I have to say, this is one of the best chai teas I’ve ever had. It’s refreshing and comfortingly spicy at the same time and is definitely one I will rebuy. I paired it with these Effie’s cocoa-cakes chocolate coconut tea biscuits that I got from Earth Fare, for a tasty afternoon tea treat. They are so crisp and delicious, I hope they have them next time I For those who haven’t heard of Earth Fare, it’s sort of like Whole Foods or Fresh Thyme, but they mostly have stores in the Southern United States, and a few in the midwest.
The weather has been really nice lately, so I’ve been taking time when I can to sit out and get fresh air during tea time before it gets too hot outside.
Ingredients: Black Tea, Cinnamon Bark, Ginger Root, Dried Coconut, Cardamom, Lemon Grass & Natural Coconut Flavor.
Lemongrass, ginger, cinnamon and cloves are the flavors that most stand out to me in this blend, and they are flavors that I really love. Though coconut was an ingredient in this chai, it’s not super strong or overpowering, which I liked. I’ve had a couple chais in the past where coconut flavor was overpowering and ruined the taste for me.
While this is a black tea and higher in caffeine, it didn’t seem as strong in caffeine as other chais, so it can definitely be enjoyed later in the afternoon. After steeping for 5 minutes, you have a wonderful, smooth chai tea, with a citrusy twist.
While chai tea is traditionally prepared as a latte, I often drink it without sugar or milk. This chai blend is really suited to be enjoyed on its own, but I plan to make it as a latte soon.
Overall, this is a very bright, summery, happy chai tea. It’s an interesting and delicious take on chai tea — a grounding and relaxing blend that brings a very calm energy.
