What a wonderful holiday! I’m starting the day with a lovely sweet cup of Teavivre Dong Ding Oolong from Taiwan (flavor is all from the leaves, I added nothing besides water).
Hot tea is so wonderful, and with tea being the number one drink in the world, there are plenty of reasons to enjoy a hot cuppa (or five) today. Here are some of mine.
1. Tea is comforting
Is there anything better than taking time to make a cup of tea, then holding the prepared cup in your hand and having your first sip? Whenever I’m stressed, feeling down or overwhelmed, turning to the leaves and taking quiet time helps bring perspective and make things a little better.
2. There are many kinds to explore
Don’t like the bagged black tea on the shelf at your local grocer? Expand your horizons, because there are tons of different kinds of teas to try out there. The options are pretty much endless. From pure black, to green, rooibos, oolong, tisane and many more, to fruity and flavored tea blends, there’s a tea out there that is right for you. You just have to find it!
3. Tea pairs well with a book, or any other relaxing activity
Anything you’re doing is instantly made better with a hot cuppa in your hands. Something about the warmth makes it great to enjoy while reading, or doing some meditation, waking up from a nap, watching a movie — you get the idea.
4. You can tea anytime, and pretty much any place
If you have leaves and water, you can make tea. When I was camping in a rustic campsite, I had to pump water, and start a fire to boil it for tea. As long as you have those things, you can bring the beverage to life. At the same time, you can get it from
5. It gives you calm and motivating energy
Despite my passion for tea, I drink coffee as well. But when I want to be alert, yet still relaxed, I know tea is going to do that for me. Black teas help wake you up, and green tea helps you maintain your energy. Pu’erh is pretty close to coffee, too.
Happy Hot Tea Day! Let me know in the comments what you have in your cup today.
