I love Reeses cups! At Halloween it’s a Reese’s pumpkin, Christmas time the chocolate peanut butter tree. I just love the flavor that comes from combining chocolate and peanut butter. What if I told you that you can get a similar flavor without all the calories, and with some nutritional benefits added to the mix?
My go-to morning meal lately has been this chocolate peanut butter oatmeal. Sweetened with just a little bit of honey (agave or maple syrup works too if you’re vegan!), this is super easy to make even when you’re in a rush. To save even more time, prepping the dry ingredients the night/week before and adding your milk or water in the morning means all you have to do is heat it up and you’re good to go.
This oatmeal tastes a bit like those classic no-bake Christmas cookies, but without granulated sugar, you feel lasting energy after rather than crashing shortly following your breakfast.
Tea pairing: This goes perfect with a cup of English Breakfast.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal
• 1/2 cup quick oats
• 4 tbsp cacao powder
• 2 tbsp PB2
• 1-2 teaspoons honey to taste (or agave/maple syrup)
• 1 1/2 cup milk of choice (or water to lighten it up)
Mix dry ingredients, add the liquid and stir. Then add your sweetener and stir once more, then nuke for 2 minutes. That’s it! Quick, easy and satisfying.
