Pukka Licorice Mint tea + a new cat mug

Two things that I didn’t really need more of: tea and mugs.

Guess what I got?

My friend Erica told me about the sale Homegoods had on a bunch of cat mugs, so I had to check it out. I decided upon this mug, because it had a cat with glasses that looks exactly like my childhood feline friend, Mittens. It also has cute paw prints circling the inside, and a large paw print at the bottom that says “Clever Cat.” And while I was there, I also picked up some teas! They have awesome deals on bagged and loose leaf tea so I bought three different ones.

This was my first time having tea from Pukka. Through their Pukka Planet philosophy, the U.K.-based tea company works “to connect people, plants and planet.”

Is it weird that even though I don’t really like licorice candy, I love licorice tea? This Pukka peppermint & licorice herbal tea is really lovely, sweet (not in a sugary way) and soothing. It helps a lot when you’re sick, to coat your throat and make you feel relaxed. But the flavor itself is enjoyable as well.

Ingredients (Fair Wild-certified): 60 percent Peppermint leaf, 40 percent licorice root.

Peppermint tea aids with digestion, while licorice is calming, so this is both a very beneficial and delicious blend. To prepare, simply steep for 5 minutes in boiling water. Licorice tea is best enjoyed warm, in my opinion. It’s most comforting that way.

Moral of the story: herbal teas are wonderful, cat mugs are great and sometimes you just have to treat yourself to a little something! It was the day after payday, and none of these things were that expensive, but it was nice to buy them because I knew I’d get use and enjoy them.

Let me know in the comments how you feel about licorice tea, and also, how you treat yourself!
