We’re a few weeks into 2017 and I’m taking time to reflect. I have many positive memories from 2016, and while I have a lot of goals I want to accomplish in the new year, there were many things that went well and made me happy last year.
Trying new teas, and a new tea room
In 2016, I tried a lot of new teas, and went to an awesome tea room near me for the first time, with some of Damien’s family. I hope to return soon. 🙂
Adopting Liberty
Not only is she adorable, but Liberty has a great personality. I’m so glad we adopted her and expanded our family (and found a furiend for Freedom).
Bought my first car, all on my own
I was attached to my old Envoy but with the cost of maintance, it was time to upgrade. I love my Equinox and driving it out of the parking lot knowing I’d bought it for myself was an awesome feeling.
Hosting lots of visitors and showing them around
It was fun having friends and family visit in 2016, and it was really fun showing them some of my favorite places, as well as discovering new spots while they were in town.
Learning to cook and bake more vegan, and switching to a more plant-based/dairy-free diet overall (with occasional fish and chicken)
Last year was one for exploration for me! I began baking more vegan things and just cooking more healthy all around, experimenting to make different things than I had in the past.
Camping in the Upper Peninsula
We had a great time exploring the Upper Peninsula last summer. Being in nature was such a great, relaxing adventure. We visited favorite spots in addition to new places, like the beautiful spring in Manistique.
Exploring to Detroit with my brother
Detroit is an awesome city, and I had a lot of fun spending the day there with my brother while back home in the fall. Good food and adventure is always nice.
Volunteering at the Humane Society
I met so many awesome cats last year! Being around felines makes me happy, and I love taking their photo and raising money so they can have a better life.
Visiting Petoskey for the first time, and taking the color tour in Northern Michigan
I love fall, and really wanted to go on a color drive so we took a short weekend road trip to northern Michigan in mid-October. It was a gorgeous drive.
Looking at lots of Christmas lights (and trees)
I love Christmas trees! And while I admired many beautiful ones in 2016, my favorite had to be In the Walnut Room in Macy’s! It was beautifully decorated and so tall. The restaurant was fun and old fashioned. Just a great holiday experience all around.
Reading more
Last year I read more books than I had in years. And that gave me a lot of peace and happiness. I have reading goals for this year as well, and so many books to get to! (Follow me on Goodreads, I’d love to see what you’re reading!)
I hope everyone had a great 2016, and that 2017 brings health and happiness. Let me know your favorite moments from last year, as well as your hopes for this one we’re in now.
